A few weeks back we were lucky enough to get a promo copy of the new Cymbals Eat Guitars LP 'LOSE'. It's out later this month (August 25th) and we've got a strong feeling that it is going to creep up on you all and take over your stereos. There is a song called 'Warning' just down below that you can listen to. The album was produced by John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and the band explained that it is an LP about coping with loss, as frontman Joseph D'Agostino was writing songs about the death of his friend and collaborator Benjamin High.
They were good enough to pick us an eight pack of records from the Drift racks that they're currently into. The Hooray for Earth LP is out late next month and C.E.G not the first people to tip us off on that one.
FUTURE ISLANDS - SINGLES If we're being honest about things that hit us immediately as being excellent, this obviously has to be included.
ST VINCENT - ST VINCENT Ripping art pop record. Unassuming bangers abound.
HOORAY FOR EARTH - RACY Friends for life. Stadium shoegaze for the radio.
BEAR IN HEAVEN - TIME IS OVER ONE DAY OLD Friends for life. Stadium shoegaze for the eagle of the mind.
DAMON ALBARN - EVERYDAY ROBOTS Massive Blur and Gorillaz fans. This is a sweet record good for being in-transit at dusk.
GRACE JONES - NIGHTCLUBBING (REISSUE) For the club, obviously.
WILD BEASTS - PRESENT TENSE Played right after us at Glastonbury in 2010. Thought they'd be jumpy post-punk from the name. They were slinky, enchanting. Big fans.
WHITE LUNG - DEEP FANTASY Pummeling, unrelenting, with really wonderful guitar work and awesome vocals.

The Baltimore trio consists of enigmatic frontman Sam Herring, bassist / guitarist William Cashion and keyboardist / guitarist / programmer Gerrit Welmers.
Herring's poetic tales of heartbreak, love and loss are finally up front and in high fidelity, thanks in part to a newfound creative partnership with producer Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear).
