From Superwolves to Sophia Loren, here are your Sunday distractions.

Last week we were talking about the enduring power of Slints' Spiderland (which you'll be thrilled to learn we have back in stock on both CD and LP) and teased that we'd again be talking about an album we adore, this time created by the man - Will Oldham - who shot that iconic Slint sleeve.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy (as he was on this occasion) collaborated with his longtime pal Matt Sweeney back in January 2005 to release the pretty much note perfect Superwolf, an album that we have played consistently over the last sixteen years and one that is as thrilling today as it was then.
The set up is simple, a few vocals, some finger picked nylon, the odd brush of a drum and Matt Sweeney's quite remarkable guitar tones purring and crunching through riffs. There were a few scant live dates before both moved onto other work and the album has only grown more spectacular as the years have passed. Last year, 'You’ll Get Eaten, Too', a new track appeared online and took Drift expectations up to fever pitch. A week or so back, the divine duo finally announced that they have reunited and a new album called Superwolves will arrive this year. Pinch us...

We do hate to be those guys, but we're lucky enough to have heard it and it's everything you'd want and more. Another absolute classic.

Our local mates Nicky, Claire and Dinah (who run The Angel Gallery) have a really excellent project running called Art For Food. It's a silent auction with some fifty-plus original pieces of art under the (silent) hammer, raising funds and awareness for the Food in Community charity.

Our bud Will sent us a link this week that really blew us away. kubrick.life is a beautifully made website that celebrates Stanley Kubrick and his work. I'm sure that all the hardcode Stan fans will know it all anyway, but for those less obsessive, it's a really engaging read with so many fascinating details.

Pillars Of Society: An Interview With Pale Blue Eyes.
A great interview on The Quietus website this week with rising locals Pale Blue Eyes, of who we've talked about quite a lot over the last couple of years. Lots of you will have seen them on the big stages at Sea Change a few years back, very kind of them and tQ to have spoken so kindly about us.

The iconic Sophia Loren is castaway with Lauren Laverne on todays Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. The programme broadcasts at 11am and is available shortly after here. Lauren has just teased that she discusses 'how to beat Richard Burton at scrabble'... Which sounds pretty dream Sunday listening tbh.
