Preorder Rundown: Week 16

Preorder Rundown: Week 16

In a week where everyone thought they were saving the pennies for this weekend's RSD carnival, the big announcements just kept coming!

A few bits we were expecting and some announcements that totally took us by surprise too, looking back, it's been a full old week!

Viagra Boys
Cave World
YEAR0001

Well, it's a scorching return from the Stockholm post-punks! Can't wait for this one, limited colour pressings too!

The Staples Jr. Singers
When Do We Get Paid
Luaka Bop

David Byrne's Luaka Bop Records reissue a little-known 1975 gospel album by the Staples Jr. Singers - no relation to Mavis and Co - but still absolutely glorious. We're very excited about this one.

Pit Pony
World To Me
Clue Records

Furious debut LP from the much-hyped and very noisy Tyneside five-piece. Fuzzy and loud, really great stuff, this.

Σtella
Up and Away
Sub Pop

Sub Pop debut from accomplished Greek artist Σtella.

Bartees Strange
Farm To Table
4AD

4AD debut from the excellent Bartees Strange. A really glorious ride through hip hop, alt rock and all sorts of other tones.

Anteloper
Pink Dolphins
International Anthem Recording Co.

Duo of Jaimie Branch (trumpet, synths, vocals) and Jason Nazary (drums, synths). The album was produced by Jeff Parker (Tortoise, The New Breed), using improvisations the duo recorded at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn.

Hot Chip
Freakout/Release
Domino Recording Company

A revitalised Hot Chip, featuring guest appearances from Soulwax, Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon and the London-based DJ and musician Lou Hayter.

The Smile
A Light For Attracting Attention
XL Recordings

Pretty sure you know all you need to know about this already... It's excellent FYI.

A couple of new releases just announced from artists who have previously worked with us on Dinked Editions... Rapper Pan Amsterdam returns with Eat, and Bristol based Jazz collective Ishmael Ensemble release A State of Flow. Excited about both of these.

Also this week; Brian Jonestown Massacre, Andrew Bird, Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler, Laura Veirs, Robocobra Quartet, Lizzo, J. Zunz, Julien Dyne, Hugh Cornwell and Death Bells.

A superb-looking compilation on Bureau B called Silberland (Vol. 1), concerned with The Psychedelic Side of Kosmische Musik 1972–1986. We also have the utterly brilliant ‘Balearic Breakfast’ Volume 1 from Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy on Heavenly Recordings that we mentioned earlier this week.

Did we say that Peter Doherty's A Likely Lad memoir is signed? Because it is!

Another bountiful set of reissues announced for release this week, including; Elton John, Mac Demarco, Def Leppard, Lou Donaldson, Sonny Clark, Young Prisms, Wilco, Orbital and Arthur Russell.
