Open Mike Eagle's (could be fifth, sixth or seventh depending on who you ask) LP Brick Body Kids Still Daydream was released back in September and (amongst many other fine reviews) hit an 8.1 from Pitchfork. After more requests then we can remember for pretty much any album this year, we're hyped to have CD and limited Oxblood colour LPs in stock now.
Narratively it is a concept album about the Robert Taylor Homes, a public housing project in Chicago, Illinois, but thematically it is deeply rooted in location, sense of home, origin and growing. A different producer for each of its 12 tracks, it's a vivid and soulful collection of songs and plays out brilliantly as a hazy and thoughtful album.
Highly recommended.
