Twerp Verse is the third full LP from the marvellous Speedy Ortiz. We've always dug these guys, a sparkling pop sensitive garage band who are tight, smart and unified, but at the same time a support for the brilliant talents of Sadie Dupuis. Writer, singer and front person, she is provoking and natural whilst remaining fun and capable of great hooks. Twerp Verse is a re-write of a proposed third LP, but in a post-Trump world that incarnation sounded too “lovey-dovey”, so this brash alternative reality was soundtracked. It's sludgy and snappy, lyrically funny and horrid and all pinned by such addictive pop songs. Great this lot, enjoying this a lot.
