We're going to go hard on this release right off the bat; Viet Cong's full debut album is superb and you should all own a copy.
Recorded in a barn-turned-studio in rural Ontario, the seven songs that make up 'Viet Cong' were born largely on the road, when Matt Flegel and bandmates Mike Wallace (both ex-members of the hugely missed band Women), Scott Munro and Daniel Christiansen embarked on a 50-date tour that stretched virtually every limit imaginable. As any of you who took our tip with last years Cassette EP on Mexican Summer will know, Viet Cong have really caught hold of something special. It crackles, it rumbles, it's tight, it's fast, it's got plenty of reverb and it even has Chad Vangaalen playing a kick drum. So before we sell out of the indie shop exclusive white vinyl copies, just take our advice... if you're going to take a punt on an album anytime soon, buy Viet Cong, full fucking refund if you've got the balls to bring it back to us saying you didn't like it.
