We always love new music Friday, but we really love this week’s new releases.

Hello, Friends.

Our first Record of the Week for September is Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, the absolutely dazzlin' return of Little Simz. It's a little bit of an instant classic, this. A tour-de-force through genres, styles and influences, but it's all very much in her own inimitable voice. Funny, self-aware, honest and able to move between modes with real grace. It's a great record.

+ Standard LP is pressed on Milky Clear coloured vinyl. Gatefold sleeve with gold foil title.
+ Indie LP is pressed on Translucent Red & Yellow vinyl. Gatefold sleeve with gold foil title.

Sea Souls is the new LP from violinist, composer and broadcaster Anna Phoebe. Based in the contemporary classical world, it's full of epic and sweeping emotions. This is stirring and beautiful music. She came and played for us this last weekend at Sea Change and it was pretty special stuff you know. We were delighted to work with Anna on a custom Dinked Edition (No. 126) and we're able to make the last few copies available now.

The self-titled On Our Own Clock album is one of those really special records that you don't want to miss. A long-distance collaborative album that incorporates South African jazz, traditional Senegalese instrumental music and London’s rich diaspora-informed musicality. It's so full of life, with appearances and contributions from; Theon Cross, Alabaster dePlume, Siya Makuzeni (SPAZA), Zoe Molelekwa and Asher Gamedze, The Comet Is Coming’s Danalogue, Senegal’s highly respected Kora player Tarang Cissoko as well as Balimaya Project’s Yahael Camara Onono. We're off our heads on this one.

Space 1.8 is the debut from London-based (Caribbean-Belgian) composer and harpist Nala Sinephro. Warp have really brought someone special to the table here, meditative sounds, jazz sensibilities, folk and field recordings that are full of so much space, but also reach moments of delicious euphoria. We've only played this a few times and we get more fevered with each spin. Expect this to be one we'll be raving about for a good while yet.

Swedish producer DJ Seinfeld returns with the shimmering Mirrors on Ninja Tune. His previous releases have been more DIY, but this latest album retains the blurred hues whilst bringing a sharp quality to what he is doing. Great beats.

+ Indie 2LP is pressed on Yellow and Pink vinyl.

Here is the headline... Molly Lewis is the World's greatest whistler. Seriously, she's amazing. The Forgotten Edge is her debut release and is drowned in old Hollywood silver screen glamour. Woozy exotica and smoky tiki bar vibes, it's a real trip.

Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan return on Castles in Space with more outstanding brutalist electronica in People & Industry. Such lush textures here.

+ Available on a limited Blue & White vinyl pressing.

Another textural work that's been getting us going this week is BArTc's Insubstantial As Ghosts. A distorted world of dark ambient drones and organic textures. Anyone with a passing interest in Coil, Chris and Cosey or early Synthesists is gonna trip on this.

Also this week, F.S.Blumm & Nils Frahm in sonic adventurer mode on the collaborative 2X1=4Rudimental return with the epic new double LP Ground Control, full of guests and big beats. Imagine Dragons release the Rick Rubin-produced Mercury: Act I and the shop is absolutely swimming with copies of Iron Maiden's banging new Senjutsu LP. We have our last few deluxe and exclusive copies left.

We have a really epic set of Not-New Records of the Week too, including; Super Furry Animals, Grizzly Bear, Amon Tobin, Jon Hopkins, Rory Gallagher, Whipping Boy and more.

On paper, we have signed copies of Warren Ellis's lovely Nina Simone's Gum book. It's such a joy, this one.

Also, advance warning that we'll be announcing Dinked 141 on Friday morning at 9am.
