The Band Earth, with husband  and wife duo Adrienne Davies and Dylan Carlson at its roots, are widely considered the pioneers of drone metal, and hold an integral spot in American music by bringing a low frequency uproar and six-string extremism to the forefront of the experimental, punk metal underground.  With a string of widely respected albums initially on Sub Pop and then Southern Lord,  Earth stepped into The Blue Room at Third Man  to record  this live album. Using the device of repetition, the band disarms and transforms first impressions with a performance so plodding and insistent that each song is stretched to its limits. The set spanned their catalogue with four first-class compositions, employing powerful guitar drones and Davies’ precise, slow-motion percussion swirling throughout.

Drift Recommends

Alongside a weekly playlist of new and old tracks (tune in via the news section), all of the Drift staff also contribute to a weekly 'Drift Recommends' playlist.

Updated every Friday, it's full of new tracks that we love, absolute bangers that have popped back into our heads and all sorts of other weird avenues. It is supposed to sound a little bit like that feeling of walking through the door at Drift.
