Mai Mai Mai - Phi
Φ (Phi) is the third and final instalment in the Mediterranean trilogy (Theta in 2013; Δέλτα (Delta) in 2014), pushing deeper into digital synthesis and scorched ritual. The album opens with a duel of distorted drones (a collaboration with avant-folk instrumentalist Luca Venitucci) before plunging into oblivion bass, seething feedback, and combat samples. Later passages ooze industrial spoken word, technoid voodoo hallucination, seasick prayer loops, and nightmare exotica, assisted in places by Italian experimental percussion legend Lino Capra Vaccina (of 1970’s “golden age” groups Aktuala and Telaio Magnetico).

Alongside a weekly playlist of new and old tracks (tune in via the news section), all of the Drift staff also contribute to a weekly 'Drift Recommends' playlist.
Updated every Friday, it's full of new tracks that we love, absolute bangers that have popped back into our heads and all sorts of other weird avenues. It is supposed to sound a little bit like that feeling of walking through the door at Drift.
