The Psychotic Monks - Private Meaning First
For fans of Sonic Youth, Throbbing Gristle and sick band names.
Description
France’s Psychotic Monks formed in the bleak winter of 2015 and have spent their time since growing a following for their uncompromising and genre-splicing public performances and recordings.
Private Meaning First, their second album, and their first for tastemaker label Fat Cat, was recorded in near total isolation. Composed in the French countryside, in a house far too small and far too cramped, they created a deliberately claustrophobic environment to forge their recordings from.
The Psychotic Monks are a band that fleet between the contortions of The Jesus
Lizard, the looseness of Sonic Youth, the malevolent electronics of Throbbing
Gristle and the organic pulse of Dublin’s Girl Band, but ultimately create
something that feels of their own.

Drift Recommends
Alongside a weekly playlist of new and old tracks (tune in via the news section), all of the Drift staff also contribute to a weekly 'Drift Recommends' playlist.
Updated every Friday, it's full of new tracks that we love, absolute bangers that have popped back into our heads and all sorts of other weird avenues. It is supposed to sound a little bit like that feeling of walking through the door at Drift.
