On Time Indefinite, William Tyler turns inward, offering his most personal and unvarnished work to date. Known for reshaping American guitar music with a blend of folk tradition, ambient texture, and a keen experimental ear, this new album finds him tracing emotional terrain as much as musical.

Recorded in the early days of 2020, after a sudden return to Nashville and without access to his usual instruments or gear, Tyler leaned into rawness. Sketches captured on phones and cassette decks became the foundation for a record that embraces imperfection — a document of fragility, adaptation, and resilience.

The guitar remains central, but this is more than a solo instrumental album. With production from Jake Davis and fragments born from conversations with Kieran Hebden, the sound spirals between lo-fi distortion, atmospheric layering, and moments of haunting clarity. It’s a reflection of uneasy times, shaped as much by absence as intention.
