Description

College return with their third full length album, a rich, glowing and nostalgic synth-based offering reminiscent of previous works heard in ‘A Real Hero’ (‘Drive’ soundtrack) but at the same time exploring a unique and conceptual world - ‘Shanghai’ - giving College’s textural and atmospherical works a brand new dimension.

‘Shanghai’ is an album inspired by the city itself - its culture and architecture; a melting pot of many things. Musically College draw on 90s sounds and the work from artists including Mark Snow, Angelo Badalamenti, Joe Hisaishi and Aphex Twin.

n College’s own words: “This record is a mysterious ballad in the heart of 1920s Shanghai... An invitation to travel, a tribute to the refinement and in the delicacy of a fantasized and blurry period of time, which fed the imagination of the musicians, the artists and the architects of this mythical city. Young chinese singer Hama, a Shanghai native, also honors me by singing on the title ‘Love Peas’.”

LP pressed on gold vinyl and housed in a spined sleeve with gold foil lettering and artwork and digital download card included.

Drift Recommends

Alongside a weekly playlist of new and old tracks (tune in via the news section), all of the Drift staff also contribute to a weekly 'Drift Recommends' playlist.

Updated every Friday, it's full of new tracks that we love, absolute bangers that have popped back into our heads and all sorts of other weird avenues. It is supposed to sound a little bit like that feeling of walking through the door at Drift.

You can subscribe to it via our Spotify public profile.
