A prolific 18-month creative period for Luke Abbott continues with the second release on his own Buffalo Temple label. On 25th September, the electronic creator and producer will release a collaborative 12” with Portico saxophonist Jack Wyllie. The three-track issue follows the release of his original score for British film ‘The Goob’, this May, and his second full-length album, ‘Wysing Forest’ in June last year.

Described by Abbott as ‘an ambient / new-age record’, the tracks are taken from longer improvised recordings made over recent months over multiple sessions.

Originally, the duo collaborated at the French festival Baleapop in August 2014, where they were invited us for a short residency. The two subsequently continued working together on a various projects, including this one, at Luke Abbott’s studio in Norwich.

Speaking about their working together, Luke Abbott commented “I think our sounds merge together in a really natural way, we found a really nice musical space together right from the beginning of the collaboration. I think we're both keen on meditation music, although pan pipes and wind chimes are usually best avoided. There's so much incredible new-age ambient music out there to be discovered. There's a great blog called Sounds Of The Dawn [] where you can find a lot of good stuff, [like] old tape cassette albums that have been rescued from obscurity.‘

On the experimental, improvised nature of the sessions, Luke added: “The recording process is just about musical exploration, there's no plan, we just turn on and play, and just record what happens. The tracks can grow from anything, it's just about trying to explore the sound and remembering to record constantly incase you find something by accident. “

‘Luke Abbott & Jack Wyllie’ is released on heavyweight vinyl, limited to 300 copies, plus it will be available digitally via all good streaming and digital download sites. A second collaborative release via Buffalo Temple is set for announcement shortly.
