Ain't nobody messing with The Space Lady.

Description

Susan Dietrich Schneider, known as The Space Lady, born 1948 in Pueblo, Colorado and raised in Las Animas, Colorado, US, is a singer and musician in the genres space music, synth pop, and psychedelic pop.

She is also a paragon of the genre known as outsider music.  The Space Lady began her odyssey on the streets of San Francisco in the late 70s, playing versions of contemporary pop music on accordion and dressed flamboyantly, transmitting messages of peace and harmony. Following the theft of her accordion, The Space Lady invested in a then-new Casio keyboard, birthing an otherworldly new dimension to popular song that has captured the imagination of the world. Of her early street sets, only one recording was made, self-released originally on cassette and then transferred to a home-made CD. “The SpaceLady’s Greatest Hits” features the best of these recordings – mostly covers but with some originals and features archival photographs and liner notes from The Space Lady herself.

Drift Recommends

Alongside a weekly playlist of new and old tracks (tune in via the news section), all of the Drift staff also contribute to a weekly 'Drift Recommends' playlist.

Updated every Friday, it's full of new tracks that we love, absolute bangers that have popped back into our heads and all sorts of other weird avenues. It is supposed to sound a little bit like that feeling of walking through the door at Drift.

You can subscribe to it via our Spotify public profile.
