Ten and Twenty year anniversary editions that still feel very much like they were released a few months back… Outrageous!
Hello, Friends.
Greetings from Devon, where as we type, we are #nowplaying the exhaustive, super-fan set of Wilco's utterly iconic fourth studio album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. You know what? It sounds superb. There is such a wistful energy to the songs, an amazing set of observations of America in 2001/2002. Quietly anthemic with the building euphoria and whispers. A classic.
+ Available on exclusive double Creamy White coloured vinyl.
+ Available on deluxe LP and CD boxsets.
It’s another huge offering and star-studded list for the second instalment of Blue Note's reimagined jazz classics on Re:imagined II. A real journey of new sounds and old echos, featuring; Theon Cross, Nubiyan Twist, Binker Golding, Swindle, Yazz Ahmed and loads more.
+ Available on Indie Exclusive double Clear colour vinyl.
Big ups to the RVNG INTL crew this week who reissue Advanced Myth, the wondrously inventive debut album from Dialect - aka Andrew PM Hunt. A stirring and meditative listen, with washes of ambience broken by corrosive and noise drenched flashes. Originally released digitally in 2015, it is now available for the first time on vinyl.
+ Available on limited Clear colour vinyl.
Domino releases a luxurious 10th Anniversary Edition of Melody's Echo Chamber, the eponymous debut studio album by French musician Melody Prochet. We played this to death on release and a decade later, the psychedelic waves still ebb and flow to glorious effect. A really gorgeous headspace.
+ Pressed on Orange colour vinyl with new artwork and a second disc of tracks from the lost follow-up album, 'Unfold'. Bound together by an OBI strip. With Printed Inners and Lyric Book.
The (excellent) Sacred Bones Records ‘15 Year Anniversary Repress’ series rolls on with Jenny Hval’s Blood Bitch, Criminal from The Soft Moon and Amen Dunes utterly brilliant Freedom, which we’ve been playing all weekend solid!
Clark and Warp release a remastered edition of his 2006 album Body Riddle, alongside a 2LP companion record, 05-10, that compiles new material, unreleased tracks from the period and sought after rarities. The two records are also anthologised in the Body Double 2CD set.
Also this week we have a repress on Rock Action of Kathryn Joseph’s gorgeous From When I Wake The Want Is album.
Anna von Hausswolff’s amazing Live at Montreux Jazz Festival (recorded in 2018) has landed on a very impressive looking Black/White Marble colour vinyl pressing. Drenched in gothic drama, lush.
Lastly today, a killer new compilation on Soul Jazz called Disco Reggae Rockers, featuring reggae covers of classic songs by Earth, Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Candi Staton, Curtis Mayfield and more, as performed by Derrick Harriott, Devon Russell, Hortense Ellis, Glen Adams, Dave Barker and others. All killer, no filler.
We’re just hustling, but it looks like another Dinked Archive Edition will be announced midweek!
