Record Store Day 2023

Record Store Day 2023

On Saturday 22nd April we’ll be open and we’ll be selling records, It is record store day!

As we explained a few times over the last few months, we're taking a more low key approach to the RSD exclusives this year. Broader economics have made a lot of the titles very expensive and many of the releases are well outside what we normally stock. We don’t want to bum anyone out, no one should feel like the record they wan't to buy isn't cool or isn't any good, so with a good months notice, we wanted to list the releases we'd expect to have in stock on the day. If it is not listed below, we will not have it.

RSD23 Releases at Drift

+ We will be open from 9am.
+ You can purchase as many records as you like, but strictly ONE of any exclusive.
+ You can browse the exclusives we have in stock, here.
+ A reminder that they are available at Drift in person on Saturday 22nd April 2023. Remaining copies will be available to buy online from 8pm on Monday 24th April.

Drift Records - 2010
Our last RSD at No.91 High St back in 2010.

Saturday 22nd April will be euphoric. We'll sell some beers, we'll have some really excellent records in the racks, we will have Quinquis playing live in the sop at 2pm, some give aways and we've booked a fantastic band called CINDY to play live in the evening. More info here

Over the last five or six years, we've been very vocal about Record Store Day needing a hiatus, a proper refresh and a reformat. We wrote about the gimmicks here and we more recently spoke about the broader business impacts here. Twelve months later nothing has changed. There is very minimal shop consultation about the releases and with the announcement of 400+ exclusives (some in limited editions of 115,000 units) this evening, it feels very much like 400+ opportunities for us to upset people in April... This isn't what we ever intended.

A reminder; we're not allowed to reserve or pre sell anything.
