Record of the Week is a real peach.
Earl Grey is the debut LP from the marvelous North London three-piece Girl Ray. They are only young (all nineteen currently I think) but there is a smartness about their songs that suggest they have been soaking up influences for years and years. Earl Grey on the surface is a set of pop bangers, but amongst the jangling guitars and thudding rhythm section, it is, like all great pop, surprisingly maudlin at times. Dead smart, super addictive songs and the delivery (vocally especially) sounds very fresh.
THRILLED to have them play for us in a few weeks at Sea Change on what we believe is Iris from the bands birthday... so come and join us!
