One of the most unique and singular voices recording today. We love this band. Record of the week is The Navigator, the marvelous new album from Hurray For The Riff Raff.

Not so much of a departure from their ramshackle country roots, but an organic progression through a euphoric Springsteen sort of rock and roll, dragging elements of New Orleans, The Bronx and an imagined Puerto Rico. The Navigator is a concept album about modern day America, division, cultures, and clashes. It is smart and avoids all the pitfalls of generalising and dumbing down. The place is in a mess, it's complicated and so is this record.
