50 is the new studio album by the iconic, legendary, well-traveled and always essential Michael Chapman.
After five decades of recording and touring, veteran British songwriter and guitar sage Michael Chapman has finally made what he calls his “American record,” and the aptly titled 50 now stands as his late career masterwork, a moving legacy statement by a legend. It's a collaborative effort (certainly in terms of the production) with Steve Gunn.
There will be few albums released this year that achieve such a sense of both British and American pastoral, and also few that evoke such introspection if you really dial into it. For all its laid-back jams, 50 actually has plenty of despair, transatlantic woe... and rightfully so. A fine addition to the Chapman and Paradise of Bachelors catalogues.
