Record of the Week is I'm Bad Now, the third album from Nova Scotia's Nap Eyes.
We bleated on about their first two albums via Paradise of Bachelors (naturally), but this third LP (released with Jagjaguwar) is them at their most concise. They are a great rock band, finding their own space outside the Velvet Underground shadow with sonically rich and winding jams. They have managed to retain all the shambolic low fidelity whilst raising the production, the tightness of the songs and the confidence of the delivery. It's not an album of singles and that really pulls you in, feels a bit like a classic in that way. Cosmic, searching and full of licks... love it.
+ Indie shop version on limited pink vinyl.
