Soul Jazz Records Presents - Soul of a Nation

Soul Jazz Records Presents - Soul of a Nation

Soul of a Nation: Jazz is the Teacher, Funk is the Preacher - Afro-Centric Jazz, Street Funk and the Roots of Rap in the Black Power Era 1969-75

The second Soul Of A Nation album released by Soul Jazz Records, following the amazing 2017 set "Afro Centric Visions in the Age of Black Power; Underground Jazz, Street Funk & The Roots of Rap 1968 to '79".

This latest release features important and ground-breaking African-American artists - The Art Ensemble Of Chicago, Don Cherry, Funkadelic, Gil Scott-Heron and more - alongside a host of lesser-known artists all of whom in the early 1970s were exploring new Afrocentric poly-rhythmical styles of music.

Early rap, funk and some pretty radical jazz combine for an amazing snapshot of music and art colliding with Black Power and civil-rights.
