Not-new Records of the Week: Deewee Foundations, Amy Winehouse, Connan Mockasin, Angel Olsen and BMX Bandits.

Welcome to Friday. We’re focusing on the week’s top reissues and compilations.

Hello, Friends.

Foundations is a compilation charting the first 50 releases from Deewee, the label (and studio) run and curated by the Grammy-nominated David and Stephen Dewaele AKA Soulwax/2manydjs. Everything on the twenty-seven track album has come through the DEEWEE Studios in Ghent and it gives this such a great cohesion. Different tones and beats, but all under the same vibe. Really enjoying this one.

Available as super-nice looking triple LP and double CD editions.

Another one with lush physical editions is the New Order live album. Recorded live on 9th November 2018 (their only UK show of 2018), education entertainment recreation is a brand-new live album from London’s Alexandra Palace. It's pretty epic at over two hours long with cuts from their most recent Music Complete and deep dives right back through their archives to Power, Corruption and Lies.

The double CD + Blu-ray edition is so lush, a sort of custom hard-case about the size of a VHS tape.

New Order

Island release a new Amy Winehouse live album, with all of her BBC live recordings in one place. Sessions for all sorts of live shows between 2004 - 2007, plus all of the Jools Holland appearances. It's another lush-looking 3LP set... You did all get paid the other day right?

Because Music reissue a couple of absolute mint LPs from the Connan Mockasin vaults, with fresh '21 editions of Forever Dolphin Love (exclusive 5 colour splatter vinyl) and Caramel (exclusive 2 colour splatter vinyl). Not many of these around, so don't miss out.

Song of the Lark and Other Far Memories is a deluxe - and lush - boxset presentation of two of Angel Olsen's finest moments. It was so lush and so limited that we sold well-and-truly out on preorder, but do keep in touch as we're trying to cop a last few.

We really like Angel Olsen.

DRIFT

Brilliantly timed to coincide with May the 4th, BMX Bandits reissue a special 30th Anniversary Remastered edition of their much loved Star Wars album. A little bit of C86 jangle is going down real well on a sunny Friday morning, so you know.

+ Limited Indie shop version LP is pressed on red coloured vinyl with new, updated and super impressive die-cut sleeve art.

Another couple of Peter Murphy reissues on Beggars Banquet, with a Clear vinyl edition of Deep and Holy Smoke on Smoky vinyl. We were jamming out to a Peter playlist yesterday, good vibes.

A monumental coming together of some of the finest Jazz musicians of their era, with Dexter Gordon's One Flight Up. It is released as part of the Blue Note Tone Poet series and both looks and sounds THE BOMB.

We have a limited clear vinyl pressing of the ZAPPA (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), showcasing previously unreleased recordings from the Zappa archive.

An absolute classic from the ever great Soul Jazz repertoire, with a 20th anniversary coloured vinyl edition of Studio One Roots: The Rebel Sound At Studio One. Another of yesterday's must played.

And lastly today, we have a restock on the super-limited red vinyl pressing of Fugazi, the uncompromising debut EP from the soon-to-be-pretty-legendary post-hardcore band.

More new arrivals incoming from Michael Small and Rosali, plus plenty of preorders going live from Arthur Russell, Bo Ningen, Alasdair Roberts og Völvur and all of those fine things we talked about yesterday.

Have a great weekend.
