Welcome to the week. Here are Drift’s Best New Reissues.
Hello, Friends.
Back on the racks for the first time in ages - and looking very handsome on limited green vinyl - is Saint Etienne's Foxbase Alpha, the first long player released on fledgling Heavenly Recordings. The thirtieth anniversary pressing still sounds brilliantly modern and celebrates the albums nomination for the inaugural Mercury Music Prize in 1992. We had to stop preselling them as they went so fast, but we're delighted to have a good wedge available online and in the shop now.
Another one that sold incredibly fast on preorder was - Entropicalia from Nottingham's The Soundcarriers. Such a brilliant band, any of you with a Stereolab / Broadcast / Vanishing Twin kink are going to go absolutely bonkers. Originally released on Ghost Box Records in 2014 and now presented with new artwork. Very limited.
Bella Union reissue Beach House's Depression Cherry this week. It's been out of print for quite a long time and this new edition is on 140g Silver vinyl and is housed in that lush Red Velvet sleeve.
Hassle Records have put together a very limited (hand-numbered) 20th anniversary edition of Alkaline Trio's From Here To Infirmary. Only 500 pressed so don't snooze on this one.
Another all time classic from Dischord with the self-titled Minor Threat pressed up on a suitable shade of Blue vinyl. The release gathers together the band's first two EPs - Minor Threat (originally released June 1981) and In My Eyes (originally released December 1981).
Completing this loud little triplet we have an absolute classic 2LP set from the Oh Sees ouevre, with a long overdue repress of Castlemania. It's a double purple vinyl pressing for the UK of just 300 copies.
Some choice restocks before we leave today with Ichiko Aoba's beautiful Windswept Adan, Fenne Lily's On Hold, Spoon's (opaque orange) Lucifer On The Sofa, The Order of The 12's utterly majestic Lore of the Land and lastly we finally have Pino Palladino & Blake Mills' Notes With Attachments collaboration on vinyl. Some of you ordered it a mere 11 months back, so thanks for holding on there... The production is great!
