Best New Reissues

Best New Reissues: The Kills, Freddie Hubbard, Gerald Wilson, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Sonic Youth, Prince and a 'Comet In Moominland'.

Looking back, it’s more reissues on the Drift counter.

Hello, Friends.

To celebrate the 15-year anniversary of The Kills' second studio LP No Wow, the duo have brought in multiple Grammy Award-winning Tchad Blake (The Black Keys, Fiona Apple, Arctic Monkeys) to give the entire album a '22 mix. I mean, it always did, but it has to be said - this album really pops and Domino have pressed it as an impressive (and limited) gold vinyl edition.

+ Buy the CD/LP now and we'll include a signed photo.
+ We also got hold of a last few copies of the band's Little Bastards on Transparent Neon Yellow.

Guys, there is a Comet In Moominland, but it's all okay. The esteemed Finders Keepers dive back into heart of Moominvalley, for a genuine treasure chest of never-heard before Moomin melodies and instrumental comet songs composed by Graeme Miller for the continued animated adventures of our Fuzzy-Felt freak folk friends who disappeared from UK TV pastures in the mid-1980s. It really is lovely stuff.

A couple of Tone Poet editions to rave about this week (both produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket), with the big band sounds of Gerald Wilson with Moment of Truth, and trumpeter Freddie Hubbard's electric Breaking Point

They really do both sound so mint.

Prince and The Revolution 1985 'Live' is one of the most-revered concert films of all time. After years languishing in Paisley Park’s vault, it has been remastered and reissues this week as a monster 3LP or 2CD + Blu-Ray edition. He sure did work them during rehearsals, the results are insanely good.

The Reverberation Appreciation Society have done a really nice job in grouping together King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's Live At LEVITATION '14 & '16 sets as a very handsome double LP. The Blue and Black "sleep" colour vinyl really does look nuts.

Once Upon A Time in N.Y.C. is a collection of pioneering proto-electro and house music made by in NYC (and London) by FREEEZ founder John Rocca between 1982-1987. A limited Orange splatter vinyl and marbled Grey 7" edition via Beggars Arkive.

Also this week; to celebrate its 20th birthday, The Libertines’ debut single What A Waster is repressed as a 7" single. Leslie Winer collaborates with Manchester-born composer Maxwell Sterling on a truly gorgeous cover of Tim Buckley’s 1967 forlorn love song Once I Was as part of the limited Light In The Attic 7" series. Amy Winehouse's powerful Live At Glastonbury 2007 gets a double vinyl pressing and Goofin repress Sonic Youth's all-time iconic Sister LP.

Soul Jazz Records Presents - STUDIO ONE WOMEN Vol. 2

Did we tell you that Strawberry Guy's delicious Sun Outside My Window via Melodic is finally with us? Well, it is and it's lush.

Last Monday was pretty bonkers over here, so we also neglected to tell you about the following reissues that are all getting plenty of attention on the counter and over the stereo; Soul Jazz Records follows up one its most popular Studio One releases with a brand new selection of rare and classic releases by women in reggae on Studio One Women Vol 2Django Django's eponymous debut celebrates its tenth anniversary with a 3LP reissue to include an entire disc of dub treatments from Mad Professor. Triple TRON, with Daft Punk's Legacy and subsequent Legacy Reconfigured remix albums getting fresh pressings, also the OG soundtrack from electronic-pioneer Wendy Carlos.

To celebrate Danny Boyle's Pistol TV show, twenty of the Sex Pistol's recordings from 1976 to 1978 are collected together as The Original Recordings. Pressed on transparent yellow vinyl, John Lydon is a Tory.

As part of the continued Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood appraisals on Light In The Attic, the duo's iconic Nancy & Lee gets a fresh '22 pressing. Surprisingly this is the first ever reissue of their infamous debut duet! We're actually totally out of stock, but, we are expecting a few spare on the black edition when that lands imminently. Do keep an eye out, not one to miss.

Last few Tim Burgess Dinked Editions flying out now, we also have a Dinked announcement on Wednesday afternoon. Yep!
