Records of the Week

Black Country, New Road, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Yann Tiersen, David Longstreth, Σtella, Walt McClements and Index For Working Musik.

What. A. Week. It’s a bit like something is happening soon and everyone rushed to get out a killer album…

Our Record of the Week is straight up an instant classic. Black Country, New Road return with Forever Howlong, their first studio album since 2022 and a bold step into new sonic pastures. Produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C, The Last Dinner Party, Beth Gibbons) and featuring vocal duties now shared between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, and May Kershaw throughout. It's a stunning evolution - wildly ambitious, intimate, and beautifully off-kilter. Honestly, it’s remarkable… like a modern-day Incredible String Band, exuding a sense of curiosity and collaborative magic.

+ Available on exclusive 'Eco Jazz Transparent Blue' vinyl.
+ We have signed copies.

Pigs to the power of 7 deliver the week’s heaviest slab with Death Hilarious, their fifth and fiercest record to date. Focused, feral and oddly playful, it’s a big, loud step forward. El-P makes a guest appearance on a standout track, while synths and piano creep into the mix. Heavy for sure, but smart with it. Weird and addictive stuff. Great band.

+ Available on limited Green vinyl with an exclusive poster.

Yann Tiersen’s
Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour is a bold, two-part work built between movement and contrast. One side is sparse and reflective, the other charged with electronics, rhythm and force. We have always loved both aspects of Yann the man, so this one is really going down well here. A journey across oceans and inner worlds - imaginative, immersive, and among his most compelling releases yet.

+ Pressed on double Black Bio Vinyl.
+ We WILL have an exclusive Signed Print, but it might take a few weeks.

David Longstreth and his band Dirty Projectors present Song of the Earth, an expansive, genre-dissolving collaboration with Berlin-based chamber orchestra s t a r g a z e, known for blending modern composition with alt sounds. Written across continents and years, it’s intimate and deeply reflective. It’s all so vivid and the complexity of the tones, arrangements and sounds they all make are nothing short of brilliant. One to spend focused time with.

Malt McClements’ On a Painted Ocean is a meditative blend of organ, accordion, and drones. There are moments of sweeping sadness and there are some glorious highs. Knocked us sideways - it’s lush.

Σtella returns to Sub Pop with Adagio, a gentle, reflective pop record shaped by time, memory, and language. Subtle, slow-paced songs with soft textures and thoughtful detail. We’ve been really enjoying this one.

+ Available as a Loser Edition on White vinyl.

Miki Berenyi Trio’s Tripla blends dreamy electronica and guitars with sharp lyricism. A new chapter from the former Lush frontwoman, rooted in collaboration and reinvention.

+ Available on limited Coke Bottle Clear colour vinyl.

Index For Working Musik expand their post-punk palette on Which Direction Goes The Beam. Immersive and deeply textured music.

+ Available on exclusive Red colour vinyl.

American indie rockers Momma release Welcome To My Blue Sky via Lucky Number. It captures a turbulent summer with big, dreamy, emotive hooks.

+ Available on Sky Blue Marble vinyl with a Signed Print.

Also this week; Hardcore band Scowl release the raw but melodic Are We All Angels. Warm (Molina-esque) country vibes from Brown Horse who release All The Right Weaknesses. The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn releases his new Always Been solo LP. We have signed posters if you come and see us. Anika releases a fierce new set called Abyss on Sacred Bones. Garage-rock trio L.A. Witch release DOGGOD on Suicide Squeeze. Diamond City is the ninth solo LP from Will Johnson and it has some really lush moments, one to check out for sure. French psychedelic rock girl group Gloria release their self-titled LP and it’s another of the week’s delicious curiosities. Keeley Forsyth and Matthew Bourne collaborate on Hand To Mouth. Former Kokoroko member Oscar Jerome releases The Fork. Juanita and Juan is a dynamic musical duo formed by Alice Bag and Kid Congo Powers and they release Jungle Cruise this week via In The Red. Young Widows release the gnarled Power Sucker on Temporary Residence Ltd.

Lastly, our good mate Matthew Shaw releases a very limited 7” single called The Tower, a lush set of ambient electronic meditations.
