Moin, Resavoir & Matt Gold and Phi-Psonics.

Records of the Week

Moin, Resavoir & Matt Gold and Phi-Psonics.

We did tell you that we’d tell you when they landed... and man have they landed!

This week’s New Music Friday (that is today if you’re reading it today) is already such a stonker, but we did specifically flag up that three things were running late but absolutely not to be missed. These are them three!

Firstly, London-based trio Moin return on AD 93 with the Belly Up EP and it is another enthralling treasure. Rich in bedroom demo-tape aesthetics, the way it slowly unfolds is quite magnificent. The density of it all is what really got us hooked, fragments of sounds and voices and fuzz. This one is really limited, so don’t miss out, just hit BUY NOW!

Horizon is the collaborative album that we have been banging on and on about from Chicago-based producers Resavoir & Matt Gold. It really is glorious, a sunny ten-track trip through vintage Latin-leaning, jazz-and-soul. But that hardly does this beautiful thing justice, it is just such a mood from the first beat. Very highly recommended.

Expanding To One is the third long player from Los Angeles collective Phi-Psonics, led by bassist Seth Ford-Young. The set is sculpted from a set of live recordings at the Healing Force Of The Universe record store in Pasadena. We like that naturally! Mostly improvised and featuring a fluctuating cast of players, it is really coherent and constant stuff, with so many lush tones bubbling away. Immersive and full of good energy.
