Our penultimate April Record of the Week is sentiment, the absolutely fantastic new LP from songwriter claire rousay. The mood is so strong, a laconic soundscape of emotions and low key beats; it’s like haze and light with sparse gestures. There are lots of off-kilter moments (the use of something vocoderish sounding takes a few moments to get used to) but she has truly crafted something blissful if not full of slow motion melancholy. Really highly recommended.

Eleven Fugues for Sodium Pentathol is the new album from American composer Adam Wiltzie and it is really powerful stuff. You will likely already know him as part of A Winged Victory for the Sullen, The Dead Texan or Stars of the Lid, and he has weaved those experiences into this hugely impressive solo set. Dramatic and immersive, this is one to really spend some time with.
We have a Dinked double this week with new records from Lucy Rose and Pillow Queens.
Lucy Rose’s This Ain’t The Way You Go Out is really strong. A frank yet optimistic album from an artist in creative transition. Dublin rock band Pillow Queens release the new Name Your Sorrow, an album that retains their urgency but also offers plenty of experimental little bites. It’s great when they really let go.
The mercurial Cloud Nothings return on Pure Noise Records with the loud and crunching Final Summer. Cleveland's loudest export hit right in the middle of thrashing angst and sun blasted euphoria. It’s really got it going on.

Your Day Will Come is the debut from NYC band Chanel Beads and it’s an alluring little treasure. There is a fugged out quality to the sonics, and the way little gestures come in and out of focus through the mix is really affecting.

Fran & Flora’s really sublime Precious Collection debuted a week or so back via Hidden Notes, but confirming we absolutely have stock in the building and it really is well worth checking. Folk hues with lush experimentalism, it’s The Guardian's current Folk album of the month.
Also this week; A Chaos of Flowers is a new LP of colossal sounds from experimental trio BIG|BRAVE. Iconic rock band Pearl Jam release the all new Dark Matter LP. The stock is just this minute arriving so we’ll take a listen and tell you more. We have a limited Red-White-Blue colour vinyl too. Grammy winners Blue Lab Beats release their fourth LP Blue Eclipse. Rock Action release a limited 10” of Bdrmm’s Standard Tuning. Naarm/Melbourne-based folk chameleon Jess Ribeiro releases the sedate Summer Of Love. Really good vibes on this one. Sounds Good is the second studio LP from the L.A. based Brainstory, produced by El Michels Affair.
We will have some copies of Taylor Swift’s new The Tortured Poets Department too, but we aren't expecting them to arrive until Friday so shipping will be delayed. Sorry.
Kiran Leonard returns on the Memorials of Distinction label with Real Home and man is it a wild one. We’ve only had it on the stereo once all the way through but we’re already pretty enthralled. A proper trip through styles and tones without ever sounding discordant or confused in purpose. I think we'll stick it on again now. Good stuff.
Reissues this week include; Orbital, The Flesh Eaters, Bobby Hutcherson, Flowered Up and Herbie Hancock… but we’ll have to tell you about them after the weekend.
