Some really beautiful tones this week, a bit of garage stomp, some looping riffs and even club textures too!

Humanhood is the really beautiful new LP from Tamara Lindeman’s The Weather Station and this really is such richly emotional music. Incorporating elements of jazz, pop, ambience and a more straightforward singer-songwriter direction, the scale of this one really is dazzling; her comparisons to Court and Spark period Joni Mitchell have never been more apt. The maximalism of the compositions, arrangements and production do offer up the opportunity to miss its beautiful subtlety and nuance on a first listen, but having such depth for repeat listening is a fine compromise. A belter, Record of the Week.

Héritage is the eagerly anticipated fourth album from Mali rock band, Songhoy Blues. They still get the knotty desert blues up to a fine pace, but this LP is a great deal more acoustic in tone and that really is hugely compelling. It’s like you’re at the campfire jam with them. The whole album has a great energy.

DIA is the new LP from Colombian producer and singer Ela Minus and the production is just fantastic. Her voice really is such a draw, and the way the production loops around her is really killer. Some cavernous beats and some clicking frenetics. We’ll have to keep pumping this one into the summer months as it is such a banger and a flash of hot heat will really make it come alive.

Produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, jasmine.4.t is the first UK signee on Saddest Factory Records and You Are The Morning is her debut LP. Thematically this is hard and unflinching, but it is not an album without hope and it is full of warm and very pretty tones, especially her voice. There are some weirder moments, and that is when this one really sparkles.

Also this week; songwriter David Gray returns with Dear Life - his thirteenth solo set - and there are some great moments of rawness. Available on limited Seaweed Green colour vinyl with an exclusive signed print. We also have just a few copies of Wilco’s Hot Sun Cool Shroud EP.

We end today with a little bit of the sublime and Weft from Copenhagen based musician Blue Lake. It’s the first new music since Sun Arcs - an album we went totally wild about - and a set that very much picks up on the gigantic sonic vistas. Slightly more earthy or woody in tone, the slow evolving of the sonics really is something to behold. Absolutely gorgeous. Tonal Union have promised a full LP later in the year. We await it like coiled springs!
