Welcome to the new week, the new month and the new us!*

Hello, Friends.

Starting off this new week (and month) with a couple of excellent reissues for your consideration.

Speedy Wunderground release Vol.5 of their ever essential label sampler series, featuring cuts from; Lazarus Kane, Pynch, Brodka & Scottibrains, moa moa and Joyeria who has just announced the forthcoming FIM EP. Any of you regular readers will also recognise deep tan and PVA who have both gone on to release Dinked Editions and the utterly splendid The Lounge Society who also release their brilliant debut LP at the end of this month. Dan 'the man' Carey has also signed a test pressing for us and we'll be picking a lucky recipient of that later this week.

Neither a reissue or old, Under The Bridge is a new compilation for fans of the esteemed Sarah Records with a new set of songs and some previously unreleased gems. The bands on this compilation were all on Sarah Records, or have key members whose bands were on that label. There are some names you’ll recognise: The Orchids, The Wake, Even As We Speak, where line-ups have remained relatively unchanged. And there are newer groups: Jetstream Pony (ex-Aberdeen), The Catenary Wires (ex-Heavenly), Soundwire (ex-The Sweetest Ache), where different shapes have evolved. So much to enjoy, some really great indie pop.

The Finn Brothers - Finn

The Cribs' belting first three albums are returning to the shelves this week, with limited colour vinyl pressings of Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, WhateverThe Cribs and The New Fellas. Some absolute crackers here, we've really enjoyed going back for a good listen.

Peter Paphides' Needle Mythology label reissue Finn, the semi-eponymous album from New Zealand’s most celebrated musical siblings Tim and Neil Finn as The Finn Brothers. The critically acclaimed LP has been largely unavailable since its release and this new, celebratory edition was produced in close collaboration with Tim and Neil and includes an entire extra album, The Finn Demos.

Django Django release a 10th-anniversary reissue of their self-titled Mercury Prize-nominated debut album. This luxe presentation includes a third LP, including a full dub treatment from Mad Professor. This really is fantastic.

ATO reissue Regions of Light and Sound of God, the debut solo album from Jim James of My Morning Jacket. This deluxe reissue features the original album plus a second LP of twelve B-sides, demos and alternate versions. They've all done such a mint job on this package.

Lastly for today, Blue Note reissue Dial ‘S’ for Sonny, the 1957 label debut from Sonny Clark. One of the finest pianists and composers of the hard bop era, this LP just floats and swings, such a joy. Mono, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
