Preorder Rundown: Week 27

Preorder Rundown: Week 27

It's a bright end to another bright week at Drift.

We've been floating away to John Carroll Kirby, Sarah Davachi, William Doyle and Anoushka Shankar. Some other pretty big preorder announcements for the clicking, here is your essential rundown.

John Carroll Kirby

Dance Ancestral
Stones Throw Records

The latest new-age jazz excursion from the ever prolific and peculiar, JCK. Featuring his classic blend of smooth-like-butter songwriting and exquisite production - and Laraaji guesting on the opening track - this one will surely spend hours gracing the shop air.

Sarah Davachi
Two Sisters
Late Music

A new record from Sarah Davachi is always excitedly anticipated here at Drift; Two Sisters sees her return with a gorgeous set of deeply enveloping movements of her instantly recognisable tonework. Really really great stuff.

Alvvays
Blue Rev
Transgressive

Back stronger than ever, and to the dizzying fanfare of us all, Blue Rev is the huge new return from cult-indie band Alvvays; their first in five years. Pressed on both crystal clear AND turquoise vinyl.

No Age
People Helping People
Drag City

LA based noise-rock specialists return for their third record on Drag City. Recorded in their garage in true DIY fashion, they present a set of raw and musically pure tracks that take us to some wholly extraordinary sound-worlds.

Sampa The Great
As Above, So Below
Loma Vista Recordings

Sampa The Great’s second record and first for Loma Vista. Powerful spoken word anchors a record full of unexpected and experimental turns. Really cool. Pressed on both transparent red and transparent white vinyl.

Codeine
Dessau
Numero

Numero - A label you can always count on - have pulled out another gem of a record here. Dessau is a set of forgotten recordings of a 1992 session from the appropriately named Codeine. Slow and SO GOOD.

Anoushka Shankar
Between Us…
Leiter

World famous Anoushka Shankar joins forces with Nils Frahm and Felix Grimm’s label, Leiter, with a live album featuring handpanist Manu Delago. As you might expect, this is utterly beautiful.

Also announced this week; The 1975, a-ha, Acid Klaus, Valerie June, The Vacant Lots, Opus Kink, Damon & Naomi, Sudan Archives, Arny Margret, and Pixy Jones.

Some pretty huge reissues in the form of; Drexciya, The Movers, Coil, Cherry Ghost and Nada Surf.
