Volcano is the fourth studio set from electronic duo, Jungle. As with much of their previous work, it is a stylistically mixed sonic bag, moving through disco and soul with a big pop filter. The production is sunshine-languorous and tends to have more crackle when the tempo speeds up (Erick The Architect and Roots Manuva in particular both add some serious drive). Record of the Week and well worth cruising around to!

The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons is the smashing return of Sweden’s The Hives. It’s a daft and very silly story about “mysterious sixth member Randy Fitzsimmons”, but that aside, they really are in thrashing form, with jacked up garage rock that has such a rush to it. After a decade in the wilderness, they sound as urgent as ever. Great stuff. Great band.

The End Of World is the 11th studio album from Public Image Ltd. (PiL). Not sure that it is specifically a concept album, but it all plays out very much like a musical or stage show, with John Lydon contorting and crooning over all sorts of different genres and paces. Stylistically all over the place which does, at the very least, keep it quite engaging.

Khruangbin continue their ‘and friends’ live series with Live at RCB Echo Beach in partnership with Men I Trust (the Montreal indie band, not the squawking NYC bluesmen ‘The Men’ as I originally thought). Desert vibes with some of their most poppy dynamisms, it’s a great work out.

Deliverance is the third solo LP from Andrew Hung, formally (?) one half of Fuck Buttons. Much like his previous Devastations LP, the main drive is around big synth drama, but his voice gives it such intimacy. Lots going on, it’s jammed full of noises!

After a long old wait, cult British psychedelic soul singer Lewis Taylor releases a physical version of his sixth album, Numb, via Be With Records. Initially released on his own label Slow Reality last year, it receives the full physical pressing that it deserves and is hugely impressive. A steady pace with 1001 subtle sonic directions whirled into his cosmic soul. You can see why he retains such an ardent fan base.

Wayô Piano Collections is a really sublime set of piano interpretations by Nicolas Horvath of Joe Hisaishi’s scores to various Studio Ghibli films. Such stirring music and the performances are as pin sharp as you’d expect. A beautiful package and a really lush little trip.

And lastly for today we have Keeping Secrets Will Destroy You, the gorgeous new LP from Bonnie "Prince" Billy. As you well know, he is our August 2023 Record of the Month and we’ll have more of the handsome Rose Pink colour vinyl landing (tomorrow we think) to include the limited and exclusive "I Am The Void" flexi-disc.
