Record of the Week is Sage Motel, the super-smooth new LP from Monophonics, the world's premier psychedelic soul band. It's produced by brilliant bandleader Kelly Finnigan and has such great energy, no posturing, just a timeless sound that blends heavy soul with psych-rock.

Cinnamon Sea is the fantastic new album from Wellington (New Zealand)'s The Garbage & the Flowers. It's been a long wait, but this one arrives when it's good and ready and very much at its own pace. Washed of hot reverb and dusty shimmer, it's a collection of deliciously simple pop songs. Melancholy and euphoria, really great stuff.

Dance Fever is the eagerly-anticipated fifth studio album from Florence + the Machine. Written and recorded (primarily) during the pandemic, it's very much about euphoria and celebration. Surprisingly weird production in places that kept us interested.

Dropout Boogie is the raw and vibed-up 11th studio album from The Black Keys. The production is naturally fantastic and they keep it as stripped back as they've been in ages. Great energy, great drive.

The Silence In Between is the new LP from Los Angeles-based band Bob Moses. Big pop production and flashes of bass music with some of their heavier dance tracks to date.
Also this week....
Benny Sings releases Beat Tape II, the successor to 2018's project Beat Tape, and previous album Music. Montreal songwriter Jesse Mac Cormack releases Solo and the production is really crisp, especially against his super smooth vocals. Berlin based Moderat return from hiatus with MORE D4TA on Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records. We're hoping to have more copies of Flora Purim's sublime If You Will shortly, the first LP in years from the iconic Brazilian singer. These Actions Cannot Be Undone is the collaborative debut from Gentle Sinners, a project by James Graham of The Twilight Sad and Aidan Moffat of Arab Strap. CDs are here, LPs are due in September.
Are You is the new EP from White Flowers. You know how much we like these guys, but it has to be said, this really is dark and lush. Do make sure to check it out.
Lastly this week, British folk duo Bear’s Den return with a heartfelt collection called Blue Hours. As we write this, the album is still en route but we do expect to have a handful of the limited Dinked Edition left.
