No no, no no no no, no no no no, no no its November! A great start to the month too.

Hello, Friends.

Record of the Week at Drift is Valentine, the second album from Lindsey Jordan as Snail Mail. Folks, it's a bruiser; songs about lost love and break ups, delivered from a voice striking ahead of her years. Her honesty is refreshingly frank, and she avoids any unnecessary navel-gazing or fake sentimentalism. It's an autobiography of a rough sounding time and a strangely optimistic look at what is next. Euphoric, brilliantly produced and she really is captivating.

+ Available on a very limited Gold colour vinyl pressing.

La Mort Du Sens is the RAWWWWWWK return of Salford psych-rockers GNOD and it's an absolute bloody treasure. Roughly translating as "The Death Of Meaning,", this new long player is a trashing new set that feels steeped in the confusion, anxiety and strife of these last tumultuous months. Sonically rich, you can hear everything in the mix, a ferocious cacophony. Powerful stuff.

+ Available on limited Blue vinyl.

We were honoured to release both GNOD and Snail Mail as Dinked Editions.

If Words Were Flowers is the excellent new album from twenty-first century Soul singer Curtis Harding. The voice is WOW WOW WOW, but he's no one trick pony. The classic soul tones are impeccable, but it's the subtle gestures to pop and electronic music in 2021 that make this album really pop. Simple and poignant. Highly recommended.

+ Available on limited Clear vinyl.

GNOD

So who had 'ABBA return for the first time in forty years' in 2021 bingo then? Trippy as it sounds, ABBA return with the new LP Voyage, inspired by their revolutionary new concert that will see original members Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid performing digitally with a live 10-piece band, in a purpose-built arena in London. Looks a bit like Tron.

+ We have very very very limited Blue vinyl copies available now.

Emma Ruth Rundle returns on Sargent House with the stripped-back Engine of Hell. Accompanied by either just a piano or a guitar, she is as crushing as ever, just in the most intimate way.

+ Indie LPs are pressed on white vinyl.

Hard Feelings is the self-titled and pounding collab from NYC-based singer / songwriter Amy Douglas and Joe Goddard of Hot Chip. Full of rich, analogue dance textures. Great stuff.

+ Indie exclusive is pressed on limited Opaque Red vinyl.

At the invitation of KPM Music, Ben Chasny - the wizard of Six Organs of Admittance - steps behind his acoustic to produce a new instrumental guitar set. The Intimate Landscape is somewhere between ambient, field recordings and pastoral folk, it's pretty much a perfect star to a cold Winter morning.

Day/Night is the big new (double) album from The Australian-born, Berlin-based Parcels. Pop funk for daytime and night time, with some real sunshine and some nice introspection too.

British producer Felix Clary Weatherall returns under his (brilliant) Ross From Friends nom de plume with Tread on Brainfeeder. Plenty of ultra modern flashes against rich analogue hues, this really is a sonic treat. Smart, emotive and full of dance beats.

+ Indie LPs are pressed on clear vinyl.

Curtis Harding

Until We Fossilize is the debut album from Marta Del Grandi, an quite extraordinary singer-songwriter from Italy. The award-winning jazz vocalist takes a trip through cinematic, experimental, exotica and 60's West Coast on her really impressive Fire Records debut.

Margo Cilker releases her debut LP Pohorylle on Loose Music and it's a really graceful one. My word, what a voice.

Joan As Police Woman collaborates with producer Dave Okumu of The Invisible and legendary drummer Tony Allen (shortly before he sadly passed away) for The Solution Is Restless

Norwegian psych-rock group Electric Eye return with the really excellent Horizons on Fuzz Club. Full of riffs and thunks and clunks. Great stuff.

Also this week... Immaculately fashioned Americana from Houndmouth with their new LP Good For You on Dualtone. Connan Mockasin releases the second Jassbusters LP on Mexican Summer. Hiss Golden Messenger returns in festive mood with O Come All Ye Faithful. We have just a pinch of these, wild colour vinyl. The Future is the third studio LP from Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and we have limited crystal clear vinyl copies. Following their latest trifecta of EP releases, A Certain Ratio return with the remix album Loco Remezclada. Includes work from; LoneLady, Lounge Society, The Orielles, Maps, Sink Ya Teeth and more. Oh yeah, Sparkle vinyl! The Night They Came Home is a double album pressing of Mr. Bungle's 2020 livestream event. Limited Orange or White colour vinyl.

Blondie share the ultra-rare Yuletide Throwdown [feat. Fab 5 Freddy] as a brand new 3-track 12”. The 1981 holiday flexi-disc is reissued for the first time on 180gm vinyl, following the discovery of the tapes in the Blondie archive. Originally given away as a coloured flexi-disc with Flexipop magazine. Remastered. Pink vinyl. New art. Limited.

X is the first new work from Working Men's Club, following their massive 2020 debut. Available on limited 7" single and also as a 12" with Minsky Rock and Paranoid London remixes.

Not quite here, but we're expecting Falle Nioke & Ghost Culture's Badiare EP to drop shortly, which is absolutely fantastic. Also, a deluxe pressing of Puma Blue's In Praise Of Shadows.

Lastly, Shade is a simply stunning new set from Liz Harris that features music Grouper has recorded over the last 15 years. The CD is here, the LP format is due soon. We will not have all that many.

We'll be talking not-new records tomorrow, with; Fela KutiThe Groundhogs, Ian Carr’s Nucleus and.... RADIOHEAD!
