Record of the Week is the spectacular return of art-rock-pop visionary Yves Tumor with the snappily-titled Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (or Simply, Hot Between Worlds). Their fifth album is just so mint, a swirling and hugely imaginative new space between alt-rock, electronics and sound design. The production is just so dazzling, every single second feels so meticulously placed whilst still flowing with real pop sensibility. Just absolutely 100% the real deal.

Dreamer is the long-awaited second album from London based musician, producer, DJ and broadcaster Nabihah Iqbal. We were honoured to work with Nabihah and Ninja Tune to release it as a Dinked Edition, so it’s an album we’ve spent a lot of time with over the last few months. Using different tones and styles, she creates a beautiful haze; it feels very much like we've been invited into the dream(er) headspace of its author.

Also on Ninja Tune this week is Live at Bush Hall, a euphoric live show from the mercurial Black Country, New Road. The three night set was the first performance of new work from the six-piece following the departure of Isaac Wood and shows an evolution from the more brittle and rattling post punk into a richer suite of influences. The vocal performances from May and Tyler are particularly knock-out, as the songs flow between super-smart and deliciously knowing. A great band and a sum of more than their many parts.
First Two Pages Of Frankenstein is the grandiose return of The National. It’s very them, euphoria growing out of melancholia and a great pace throughout that never lags. The guest appearances are never invasive either, Sufjan, Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridges all adding to the rich sonic washes without taking over the show. It’s really good and feels like the sort of album that will keep offering more and more subtle treats on each repeat listen.

It’s a double Dinked week with Thank God! It’s The Dream Machine…, the hotly anticipated debut album from The Dream Machine. It’s all very assured, borrowing liberally from psychedelic-pop without sounding hackneyed. A really strong debut.
Lock Eyes and Collide is the new Speedy Wunderground EP from Moreish Idols and it is bloody LUSH. It’s got such drive, it really rattles along without sounding over jacked. Such a great young band, we’re already eager for more!

Skinny Pelembe returns on Partisan Records this week with the searching Hardly The Same Snake. His voice sounds fantastic as he swoons through various alt-pop tones.

Electronic titans The Orb release their 18th album, the pulsating Prism. Using beats from all sorts of styles, this one really has some euphoria.

Also this week; Freedom Fables is the joyous new set from the epic London-based Jazz collective Nubiyan Twist. Ecstasy of Ruin is the powerful and bleeping new set from Autobahn. Norwegian musician Susanne Sundfør returns on Bella Union with bloìmi. We have the very cheeky Peace Of Mind EP from Master Peace. Anxiety Replacement Therapy is the new LP from Manchester band The Lottery Winners, featuring collaborations with Boy George, Frank Turner, and Shaun Ryder! The Chemical Brothers release a very limited 12” of No Reason, a firm favourite of their incredible live shows. That! Feels Good! is the glossy fifth studio album from pop icon Jessie Ware. We have just a few of the Red vinyl copies left. Timeproof is the textural new set from Ital Tek on Planet Mu.
Lastly this week, humanus is the dense and layered debut from uh, the sibling duo Dominic and Fionnuala Kennedy. Using various beats and synths, they’ve created something very weird and really beguiling. Been getting deep into this one.
