20.02.2020. We've got tons of great new releases this week, it's a bumper edition.

Hello, Friends.

Firstly this week is a Dinked Edition that we were super proud to have been part of. Douglas Dare returns on Erased Tapes this week with his third LP Milkteeth and we worked with them on a very handsome edition. We're putting our last copies of Dinked No.35 online now and that includes an exclusive, hand-numbered alternative sleeve and is pressed on milk-marbled colour vinyl. The album is produced by Mike Lindsay (founding member of Tunng and one half of LUMP with Laura Marling) and strips everything back to wrap around Douglas' voice. It really is beautiful stuff this one, it's going to be one of those albums that keeps popping up. Pretty, sad, simple and really addictive stuff.

🚨 Head over to the Drift Instagram for a chance to win test pressings of both the King Krule and Grimes albums.

After two feverishly received albums as King Krule, plus another low-key outing under his own name, Archy Marshall returns with Man Alive!, our Record of the Week and possibly his most rounded work yet. The production is still drenched in that signature KK fug, but the moments of light shining through the haze are pretty glorious and it feels like we get more than ever of him on this record. Less snarling than on previous outings, he makes for a hugely captivating narrator. Highly recommended and you'll get more and more out of the smoke on each listen.

+ ‘Man Alive!’ is available on limited edition white 12” vinyl and an indie white edition with bonus transparent red flexi disc including the ‘Hey World!’ version of 'Perfecto Miserable' track.

Big return this week from Grimes and the highly anticipated new Miss Anthropocene LP. She's always been a baffling one to fathom, interviews shrouded in elaborate jokes (we think?!) and clickbait headlines, but what always remains is that she is a hugely inventive songwriter and producer. The faster and more jacked-up production emphasises the stripped-back sections and the way it moves between modes is all the more interesting for it. Really engaging stuff.

+ Limited indies only version on translucent pink vinyl.

Spinning Coin release Hyacinth on the beautifully curated Geographic imprint of Domino Records. The lineup has evolved (personnel changes, geographical changes, a new context, an ever-changing world outside), but the warmth of their debut remains on this new collection of excellent songs. Highly recommended.

+ Deluxe LP is 180g yellow vinyl & features a four page printed lyric insert.

Another band we really like who also released their debut in 2017! Brooklyn-based trio Wilsen return with Ruiner. Produced with Andrew Sarlo (Bon Iver, Big Thief, SASAMI), these gorgeous songs are ethereal and swimming in reverb. More LP's due in the next few weeks.

It's a week full of old friends in fact, with Pictish Trail releasing Thumb World on Fire Records, Agnes Obel returns with MyopiaSix Organs of Admittance release Companion Rises on Drag City, Best Coast release Always Tomorrow and Lanterns On The Lake release the epic Spook The Herd.

The majority of all of these include indie special edition LPs, so come and get clicking.

Rebecca Foon, the composer and musician behind Saltland and Esmerine (and former long-standing member of Silver Mt. Zion) presents a new album entitled Waxing Moon. Really a very special listen, this one.

Los Campesinos! - Romance Is Boring [10th Anniversary Edition]

Late arriving and out last week, but we wanted to have a little rave about Football Money, the debut LP from Canadian quartet Kiwi Jr. They have some real Pavement shapes going on (without directly 'doing-pavement') and before we realised they were connected to Alvvays (Mike Walker plays bass in both), we noticed a similar sort of glimmering melancholy. Don't snooze on this as we don't have many and we'll be playing it bloody loads!

On October 22nd 2019 Courtney Barnett performed a unique and special show at the invitation of MTV in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. The “Unplugged” performance features Barnett as you’ve never heard her before, warm, vulnerable and emotional, performing a stirring set of eight songs to an intimate audience

+ Limited Indie version LP is pressed on aqua blue coloured vinyl.

Ride the Skies is the second album by Lightning Bolt, and this re-release makes it available to fans for the first time since it’s original release. The deluxe packaging featuring jacket art that was designed by Brian Chippendale for the original release but has never been realised until now. Man we love this band...

Lastly this week, Los Campesinos! release the 10th anniversary edition of Romance Is Boring. Big, rich, emotional and full of all the bits that make them such a special band. Do get involved if you've missed out on it first time around.

+ Limited indie shop version is a double LP pressed on gold coloured vinyl.

+ We have some very limited edition zines to give away.

+ The band are on the front cover of the new issue of Gold Flake Paint, we'll have copies in the shop next week.

BIG WEEK. We also announced a Dinked Edition with Modern Studies and a TON of new treasures performing at Sea Change.
