The ever-restless Oh Sees release Smote Reverser on their own Castle Face imprint and it's another successful sideways step away from their quite remarkable back catalogue. Arguably a little mellower than the last few, certainly with weirder moments, it draws from their roots in garage rock and psychedelia but has plenty of skewed cues towards the more progressive. Hypnotic, big riffs and everything from the fantasy art to the doomy tones is super rewarding, with loads of pomp and honking organs. Always prolific but they are not treading water.
