Psychic Temple - IV

Psychic Temple - IV

Record of the Week is a free flowing beauty, as mellow as the Southern California wind.

Produced and composed by band/cult leader Chris Schlarb, Psychic Temple IV was recorded in Los Angeles over a series of eight large scale sessions, very much in the winding and progressive spirits of the classic Wrecking Crew sessions for Phil Spector and the Beach Boys. The LP features 87-year old Max Bennett (bassist on Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark and Hissing of Summer Lawns) alongside 26-year old drummer Tabor Allen (of Cherry Glazerr), not only that, British rock legend Terry Reid sings a trio of duets. That's only the half of it, Jazz players and sonic experimentalists all working in the laboratory.

It is both futuristic and also a window into the past, sounding very much like a long lost gem that a label in the Light In The Attic region might well have unearthed. Much to discover and much to enjoy, highly recommended.

For a short time, it is pressed on indie shop exclusive hot pink vinyl.
