Record of the Week is a really striking collaborative concept record.
Planetarium is an album co-composed by four musicians: Bryce Dessner (of The National), contemporary classical composer Nico Muhly, percussionist and arranger James McAlister and Sufjan Stevens. They wonderfully capture the endless chasms of space, the fragility of planets and their contrasting characters. It's super cinematic (bits sound like Moonraker) and all four creators bring different elements to the table. The jury is still slightly out on the four-minute Euro banger 'Saturn', but we've played this LP quite a bit over the last few weeks and the dramatic tone of it is hugely enjoyable.
