Jagged dystopian saw-waves meet head-first with coldly digital swathes of noise, and rasping key swells. Soaring arpeggios punctuate the forground, leaving fragments of melody in their wake. 'Dirt' is a dark and brooding car (or 2120's equivalent) chase through a neon-lit dystopia, bound to end in an iridescent explosion of flux capacitors and kill-blasters. 'Wardenclyffe' could easily have been included on Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury's triumphant alt-soundtrack to Judge Dredd 'Drokk' with nary an eyebrow raised. Minimally embellished but shockingly full-sounding saturated arps soar atop 16th-note bass pulses, growing into an orgy of noise and grit. 'Low Fog' is about as Oneohtrix as you can get now that Mr. Lopatin has started listening to gabba and railing ket. In all, a stunning and filmic trip through a bleak alter-universe.
