In these last few days of the month, year, decade... we've spent a few minutes looking back at 2019 as it's felt like a big one here at Drift. It does also provide a nice way for us to thank you all for shopping with us, else we're just a beautiful mausoleum.

Top Sellers
We do have some hours to go, but the top selling release this year looks to be Thom Yorke's ANIMA (if you're quick we have indie exclusive orange vinyl and a deluxe boxset or so left). Other serious sellers were Cate Le Bon's delicious Mercury nominated Reward and W. H. Lung's superb debut Incidental Music, both of which were released earlier in the year as Dinked Editions. In August we got out a whole bunch of the releases to date and took some photos.

Dinked
As of this December we have announced 38 Dinked Editions, with the first 31 of them available now (where they haven't sold out naturally). Ours are listed here. We also released the very first Dinked Archive Edition this year, with The Low Anthem's Oh My God, Charlie Darwin getting a very handsome 10th Anniversary Edition.
Deluxe
Our new revamped Deluxe Newspaper had some great new editions this year, talking shop with Phoebe Bridgers, Sebastian Plano, EERA, Steve Kraków, AJ Lambert and we took Joe Mount on a Ghost Shop tour of Totnes. We also visited Lost Padres in New Mexico, The Business in Washington and Stranger Than Paradise and World of Echo in London.

Out of the blue, we've totally gotten back into making mixtapes... who would have thought it. More to follow in January no doubt, but you can enjoy a mostly non-Christmassy one here, we also made a real cracker to celebrate the first Sea Change 2020 announcements.

Frequent visitors will know that we utilise records, CDs and streams in the shop to playback music. We can't be trusted to count the analogue types, but Apple Music gave us some interesting stats... we say interesting.

A brave new dawn. Well, has to get better, surely? We're going to end this full of optimism. January alone has new releases from Georgia, The Big Moon, Holy Fuck, Whyte Horses, Aoife Nessa Frances, Keeley Forsyth, Algiers, Pinegrove, Bill Fay, Pale Saints, Lightning Bolt, Bonny Light Horseman, Wire, Black Lips, Wolf Parade, Yorkston/Thorne/Khan, Jon Hopkins & Kelly Lee Owens, Smoke Fairies, POLIÇA, Squirrel Flower, Torres, Squarepusher, Dan Deacon and more. The first week of the new decade marks the return of Field Music with the spectacular Making a New World, an album they'll be playing in full at Sea Change 2020.
It was another year that we didn't win the Music Week Award (or any for that matter), a year where we stocked more releases than ever before, shipped more parcels than ever before, made more new friends online, invited more new friends in for drinks and overall were just a lot busier than ever before.
So again, thanks to you all for being part of it and we're hyped to do more as soon as the clock strikes 2020.
