New week, new month and not-new records for your consideration.

Hello, Friends.

Welcome to this new and slightly shorter week.

Curtain Call is a six-song set from saxophonist Hank Mobley, with a couple of standards alongside four Mobley original compositions. It really is an all-star quintet with Kenny Dorham on trumpet, Sonny Clark on piano, Jimmy Rowser on bass and AT Art Taylor on drums. Recorded in 1957, unbelievably Curtain Call would sit in the vaults unreleased until 1984. Killer reissue job as part of the Tone Poet series. Such a light air to this one.

Erased Tapes reissue a lovingly produced 10th anniversary edition of A Matter of Life… 2021, the debut LP from Penguin Cafe. Besides being completely remastered and pressed on vinyl for the very first time (including a very handsome clear vinyl edition), the record also features a brand new 2021 recording of lead single 'Harry Piers', a song commemorating Arthur Jeffes’ late father and Penguin Cafe Orchestra founder Simon Jeffes.

Long out-of-print and much sought after, Awesome Tapes From Africa wade deep into the interior forest of Gabon for rare recordings of Bwiti ceremony music. Recorded by Papé Nziengui, it's an extraordinary mix of traditional ceremonial music and modern instrumentations on synthesizers. Kadi Yombo is available for the first time outside Gabon since its original release in 1989 and highly recommended, it's a trip that sounds not much like anything else!

The Sacred Bones Moon Duo reissue series delivers the excellent Shadow of the Sun this week. The duo's third studio LP is a really psychedelic affair, with industrial textures giving it an urban setting. Some lush motoriks amongst the floating ambience. Pressed on limited 'Blue and White Galaxy' colour vinyl.

Dais issue a fresh 2022 edition of Coil's Musick to Play in the Dark². Available on either double Translucent  or double Black vinyl.

Eternal Yip Eye repress Hi How Are YouDaniel Johnson's masterful "unfinished" sixth album from 1983. Pretty heartbreaking stuff. Nice gatefold edition and looks like they have re-traced the OG sleeve as there was a REALLY shonky edition about a while ago.

We have (not many) Hiroshi Yoshimura's amazing Music for Nine Postcards back in stock. Just the most stirring ambience, an incredible album.

A couple of new bits to flag up as they are just in the building. We've ended up with just a couple of The Soundcarriers lush Wilds LP (on 'Randomised Wild Vinyl'), don't pause on this. We have Ibibio Sound Machine's ⚡ Electricity ⚡ LP back on exclusive 'Black & Yellow Splatter' Vinyl, such summer jams. We have the dark, heavy and limited Rabbit Wench from Bristol's wych elmTrombone Shorty's Lifted just landed via Blue Note and we have a very very limited few copies of Hatchie's Giving The World Away on Dinked Edition. Wow!
