Windows open, fan pumping, ice in the coffee and Pharoah on the stereo. It’s chill.
Hello, Friends.
Starting this new week off with an absolutely mint 2022 pressing of Bill Evans Trio's Trio ‘65. Evans is so graceful and he leaves great space for Chuck Israels (bass) and Larry Bunker (drums). A cool breeze. Released on the Verve Acoustic Sounds Series, transferred from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl.
Tidal Waves Music reissue Pharoah Sanders' Moon Child, a rare set of French recordings from 1989 that has been out of print since release. Cosmic vibes and a more focused set of improvisations from Sanders at the front of it all.
Blue Note reissue alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson's iconic Blues Walk LP. Another laid back afrair and also sounding tight, with all-analog mastering by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes. Pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
Following last years digital release, In The Red release a killer multi-colour pressing of The Linda Lindas EP. Six songs of honest punk from LA's newest wunderkind sensations. Such good energy here and with an LP due out later this year on Epitaph, these guys are gonna be everywhere.... And good!
Available in four different colour vinyl pressings, each named after a different band member;
+ 'Moon Phase' Orange and Milky Clear - 'Eloise'
+ 'Colour Inside of Colour' Sea Blue and Coke Bottle Green - 'Bela'
+ 'Splatter' Swamp Green and Evergreen - 'Lucia'
+ 'Tri Colour' Kelly Green, Royal Blue and Neon Yellow - 'Mila'
As part of the Sacred Bones Records 15th Anniversary, we have a limited 'Seaglass Wave' colour vinyl edition of Этажи from Belarusian post-punks Molchat Doma. An absolute Coldwave classic, really love this and it sells whenever we play it.
Also on Sacred Bones is a limited 'Royal Blue' pressing of Bigger Than Life from synth popper's Black Marble. Melodic and clean, but such murky energy, really worth checking out.
A couple of excellent King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard editions on Heavenly Recordings this week, with I'm In Your Mind Fuzz and Paper Mâché Dream Balloon both pressed as original plus Instrumental double LPs. Quarters! is due very shortly too.
We have a couple of different editions of Summer of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised), the soundtrack to Questlove's awesome film about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. Available on CD/2LP in full, or limited Red colour vinyl as a 'Hand-picked live cuts' edition.
To celebrate it's Fiftieth Anniversary, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars gets a half-speed remaster. This ' Golden Jubilee' edition looks great too, such a nice edition. There is also a very limited and super-fun Picture Disc pressing too.
As you all well know, we dropped a mini RSD on the weekend. The late ship? Drop Two? There were some pretty nice releases for the shelves and we will be making the leftover's-leftovers available to buy online tonight at 8pm.
