Delivery – Force Majeure

If we can be sure of anything in 2025, it is that the musical city of Melbourne is gonna deliver, and Delivery really deliver!

January 2025 Record of the Month.

Force Majeure is the second studio album from Australian five-piece Delivery and their first in partnership with London’s finest, Heavenly Recordings. A brash and scuzzy twelve song set of pop-smart garage nuggets. We are very much entering 2025 as we mean to proceed!

There is a concise element to the songs that never outstay their welcome. In the same way as Parquet Courts’ incendiary Light Up Gold, Force Majeure feels like each song ends with the band readying to hurtle right into the next, a breathless but focused flow of observations, yelps and riffs.

"We were really conscious of having ebbs and flows on this album, of giving people a sonic break. We wanted to put in different moods, have different singers, slow it down, make it groovy so it wasn’t just bang-bang-bang. Breaking things up was really important,” says bassist/vocalist Bec Allen.

“There’s definitely something punk about keeping your cards close to your chest rather than being full on every second you’re playing. Dialling it back a bit is definitely part of our collective DNA these days,” adds guitarist/vocalist James Lynch.

The title is brilliant, this is indeed a superior force and Delivery sure do know it. A confident, fun and proper lightning-in-a-bottle romp with brilliant hooks, lots of dynamism and voices with plenty to say. A ripping start to 2025, January’s Record of the Month.
