Shamanic Psychedelics, rich country loveliness, pop maximalism, a bit of Country and a bit of Folk.
Goat is the eponymous sixth studio set from Swedish mystics Goat and it’s dead good! They still whip out the odd blood-boiling riff, but that is only part of the blend. Weird, driving rhythms alongside breakbeat patterns that give it perhaps their most dancefloor-friendly edge yet. The bass warbles, the rhythm has deep Afrorock grooves and the wall of harmony vocals are proper euphoric. They remain other-worldly, but they are also really good fun. Record of the Week.
+ Available on a limited and very handsome looking Swirl vinyl pressing.

+ Available on Recycled Colour Mix colour vinyl, which may or may not look like the one we photographed, but will be super special all for you!
“It was an extreme honour to make a record with one of the greatest songwriters of all time. We believe in this music with all of our hearts, and we hope it brings you joy.”- Big Thief.
Peter and David Brewis return as Field Music this week with the delicious Limits of Language. It really is so masterful, absolute pop-maximalism, but done with such a joyous energy. They take a world of musical influences and liberally whirl them into something smart, sophisticated and totally new. Lots of pop sensitivity, but also some weird turns and a little bit of crunch in there too. They are good!
+ Available on limited Red vinyl.
The Quietus ran a really great feature with the brothers talking about each track, you can read that here.

+ Available on limited Olive Green colour vinyl.
Keeping it Country, brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith return as Dawes for their first LP in close to a decade, Oh Brother. Rich sombre moments and rolling Americana. Great stuff.
+ Limited Turmeric colour vinyl.
From double Country to double Folk to close out this week’s new releases and a couple of curious belters.
The excellent Stick in the Wheel return with A Thousand Pokes and it is propulsive stuff. Inspired by 700 years of odd behaviour, there is a very modern element to what they do with fascinating sonics adding to the mix.
Then, Shovel Dance Collective is the self-titled second LP from London's nine-piece folk group. Rich in traditional hues, it is also beautifully ornate and its fuller moments are proper out-of-body powerful. The drones… Wow!
Lastly today, we finally have stock of MJ Lenderman’s Manning Fireworks, which is a proper belter. It was released a few weeks back so we’re going to play it loads here to make up for the delay. Okay?
A week of splendid reissues too with; William Basinski, Fela Kuti, Deadly Headley, Hank Mobley, Holden and Cosmic American Music: Motel California.
