Our Record of the Week is the ferocious Hellfire from black midi. The band's third studio LP establishes them as genuine musical polymaths, a band as distinct as any that has come before them. Hellfire is chaotic and absolutely explosive, but brilliantly consistent in its totally fearless and provoking drive. They really are one hell(fire) of a band.

In a week of very big returns, we're absolutely delighted to welcome back Yorkshire synthpoppers Working Men's Club with the massive new Fear Fear LP. The production is beautifully observed, timbres and tones from electro-punk and rave wound tightly around Syd Minsky-Sargeant's commanding centre point. It's a big step forward and another sure-fire hit from Heavenly Recordings.

The Other Side of Make-Believe is the seventh full-length studio release from New York rock band Interpol and it really does cast an impressive shadow. Paul Banks' vocals are so distinct that they will inevitably sound like Interpol, but this new album is an older and refined version of that younger band. They sound so comfortable, the confidence is as alluring as the dark and gleaming production.

Night Drives is the deeply affecting new album from singer, songwriter, novelist, and painter Kathryn Williams. Her voice sounds amazing, graceful but under the weight of emotion. The production with Ed Harcourt is fantastic too, this is such a luxury listen.

Pye Corner Audio returns with Let's Emerge!, some of the most gloriously bubbling psychedelia we've heard in yonks! Rich analogue electronics with shimmering splashes of psych. It's his first studio outing for the Sonic Cathedral label following the acclaimed live recording Social Dissonance - which was released earlier this year - and it features Ride guitarist Andy Bell playing on five of its ten tracks.

World Wide Pop is the fizzing second album from psychedelic indie pop band Superorganism. The scope and scale really is impressive, featuring an international set of collaborators including Stephen Malkmus, CHAI, Pi Ja Ma, Dylan Cartlidge as well as musician and actor Gen Hoshino.

Phil Cook (of the much-loved band Megafaun and collaborator to The Blind Boys of Alabama, Bon Iver, Kanye West and Hiss Golden Messenger) releases his new solo LP All These Years this week on Psychic Hotline and it is absolutely gorgeous. A solo piano album of huge imagination, this just floats. Do check it out, it's a corker.

Beatopia is the second studio LP from fuzzy, grunging pop singer Beabadoobee. It's another hugely impressive album, the vocals are really impressive but she seemingly moves between the genres and paces effortlessly. By the way, the album is pronounced "Bay-A-Toe-Pee-Uh".

Nightlands is the solo project of The War on Drugs' bassist and multi-instrumentalist Dave Hartley and Western Vinyl release the beautifully produced Moonshine. A lush and languorous pace to it all, they make complicated pop sound very chill.

Eat is the new LP from rapper Pan Amsterdam. The food obsessed LP (which we approve of greatly) is recorded in collaboration with underground legend Damu The Fudgemunk and has such great energy. Pan Amsterdam has such a great flow and is consistently funny without ever directly joking. Lots of parallels to the iconic Mm..Food album. Check it.

After years of demos, Happening is the debut LP from Orange County-raised, Los Angeles-based musician John Cudlip as Launder. Developed out of casual sessions with friends Jackson Phillips (Day Wave), Soko, and Zachary Cole Smith (DIIV), it's a poppy and sunshine drenched space in shoegaze. We're really enjoying this.

Also this week; Tick Tick Tick... is Cabaret Voltaire co-founder Stephen Mallinder's second solo outing for Dais. Lizzo's fantastic and world dominating Special album gets a limited pressing (Exclusive Purple vinyl). Lastly, FBI agent Gordon Cole releases a limited 7" single under his David Lynch alias. Ghost of Love was originally released via CD single in 2006 and is now finally seeing its vinyl debut via Sacred Bones Records.
All this newness has an impressive set of reissues to share the racks with too, including; Cheri Knight, Pavement, The Cat's Miaow, Idlewild, Talk Talk, Nancy Sinatra, The Pyramids and more...
