Our Record of the Week is the glorious return of Drugdealer with Hiding In Plain Sight. The production (from founder and primary songwriter Michael Collins) is always so deliciously thick, a sunshine-smoked sort of melancholic fug. Deceptively smart pop songs and just so many brilliant little nuances in the mix. Guests include; Tim Presley, Kate Bollinger, Bambina, Sasha Winn, Sean Nicholas Savage, Video Age and John Carroll Kirby. Really highly recommended.

There is no Acid in this House is Hieroglyphic Being’s third solo album on Soul Jazz and it is a proper baller. Jamal Moss (the being) is always such a thriller, with raw and pulsating acid house, flashes of Afro-futurism and straight out experimentalism on this really killer new set.
Not one, not two, not… okay, there are FIVE! new Dinked Editions in the racks this week, headed up by Protector, our October Record of the Month from Aoife Nessa Frances. Her voice is just amazing. An album that sounds both timeless and strangely modern, perfectly framing her hazily whispered words. We’ve played this so much already; it's really brilliant.

TUESDAY. NOTHING EXISTS. Is the pounding debut album from three-piece GRAVE GOODS. Featuring current and former members of PINS, Girls Names and September Girls, this really is addictive early post-punk and minimalist rock at its finest. Angular and driving; great stuff.

Abraxas are duo Carolina Faruolo (ex-Los Bitchos) and Danny Lee Blackwell (Night Beats) and their debut Monte Carlo is a hugely gratifying set of cosmic, woozing Tropicalia. This really does have such great energy!

One of the week’s (or month? years?) most high-gloss returns is High Art Lite, the shimmering second LP from TVAM. A rich, euphoric and hurtling album that really swaggers. It’s such potent stuff; proper psychedelic space rock.

We also have a very special Dinked Archive 10th Anniversary pressing of Cate Le Bon’s Cyrk & Cyrk II, but we’ll talk more about that in the reissues newsletter next week.
Supergroup Dead Cross return with their second studio LP, the snarling beast that is II. Experimental and totally hardcore, this is such a rush and a really great listening experience.

Next up, one hell of a band illustrating that they are one hell of a live band too! Spiders In The Rain is a double album of live recordings from the mighty Wand. Man do we love these guys! Recorded at various shows around California, this is so euphoric, you can feel the band and audience blurring into one.
Another of our favourites returning this week with a brand new LP from Canada’s Preoccupations. Arrangements is their first in four years and very much sees them return to their roots of impassioned, guitar-driven post-punk. They create such a vibe; dark but alluring. Really highly recommended.

A New Kind Of Love is the third LP from Ghost Funk Orchestra and is rich in vintage soul. Great retro energy without any of the needless cosplay, a really great listen.

Also this week; Car Therapy Sessions is an EP of new and re-imagined songs by Faye Webster, recorded at Spacebomb Studios with a 24 piece orchestra. A new self-titled Sylvie LP drops this week on Full Time Hobby, the project lead by South California native Ben Schwab, including Marina Allen adding (stunning) vocals to a couple of tracks. Leading Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir returns with Time Is On My Hands. Also on One Little Independent Records and also Icelandic is Arny Margret who releases the gorgeous they only talk about the weather. A really lush voice. Please Don’t Take Me Back is the fourth album from Durham indiepop-punks Martha. Waiting Game is the new dance-groover from Canadian duo Junior Boys. Nightmares On Wax releases a live version of this excellent Shout Out! To Freedom that was recorded live at Pikes Ibiza.
After a little bit of a delay we have vinyl copies of 12 5 18 2 5 18, the absolutely lush new LP from Yann Tiersen. It’s a total rework of his Kerber album, a sort of step between live and studio. Really great flow through tones and beats.
Lastly this week, two absolutely glorious books for your coffee table or bathroom shelf.
Our mate Jon Savage and Soul Jazz kingpin Stuart Baker have co-edited PUNK 45: The Singles Cover Art of Punk 1976-80. A revelatory guide to hundreds and hundreds of original 7” record cover sleeve designs. Got stuck thumbing through this twice already this morning.
Ecstatic Peace Library are rightly thrilled to release Linger On by Velvet Underground-obsessed music journalist Ignacio Julià. Beautifully delivered, this new volume features interviews with Lou Reed, John Cale, Moe Tucker, Doug Yule, Nico and the most in-depth interviews ever granted by Sterling Morrison, as well as never-before-published photographs by James Hamilton. For the Velvet-heads, it doesn’t get any better.
Reissues this week includes; Cate Le Bon (as we said), Charles Mingus, Dinosaur Jr., Joni Mitchell and that new edition of The Beatles’ Revolver!
