Here are your #newmusicfriday bubblers. Yes, we do know it’s Thursday.

Hello, Friends.

still slipping vol.1 is the debut full-length project from Joy Orbison, a free-flowing mixtape of textures, tones and voices. It has such a bubbling vibe to it, guest collaborations (including Herron, James Massiah, Bathe, Léa Sen, Goya Gumbani and TYSON) and the voices of his family. It honestly has such a transient vibe, little flashes of conversation and spaces, it's really highly recommended and is our Record of the Week.

Ekundayo Inversions is an absolutely lush collaboration between New York 'cinematic soul' band El Michels Affair and British reggae-soul artist Liam Bailey. Rich analogue sounds with modern arrangements, it's got a weirdly timeless vibe and it bubbles away in some really inventive little directions. Great stuff.

4AD group together Antidotes, 2 EPs of luscious, ambient, textural pop from South-London-based multi-instrumentalist Lucinda Chua. Her voice is especially thrilling, a warm and graceful whisper for the best parts, surrounded by cinematic swells. Lovely.

+ Lucinda has singed a bunch of LP's for us.

Loving In Stereo is the banging new party album from British producer duo Jungle. Soaked in disco, funk, soul and other beats, it's really joyous, a set of danceable bangers with hooks but also lots of nice little segways.

+ Indie LP is Blue vinyl.

Chew The Scenery is the long-awaited debut album from indie wunderkind Oscar Lang. In the same sort of way as Harry Nilsson, the songs have big feelings under sugary sweet hooks. Sounds like 101 things throughout, but it is more than a sum of its parts. Exciting and engaging.

Different Kinds of Light is the second LP from Jade Bird. Vocally she sounds great, country-tinged again but leaning more towards pop.

+ Indie LP is pressed on Opaque Orange colour vinyl.

Refuge is a collaboration between Devendra Banhart and Noah Georgeson as part of Secretly Group's "Friends Of…" series. Really graceful ambient music, beautifully recorded instruments.

+ Indie 2LP is pressed on translucent Blue Sea-glass Wave colour vinyl. Very limited.

Low Budget Environments Striving For Perfection is a bubbling new instrumental beat record from Stimulator Jones. Curated with Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf, the atmospheric hip-hop beats are mainly created using a Yamaha SU700.

Lo! Soul is the fifth solo LP from Roddy Woomble, Scottish singer-songwriter and lead vocalist of the most excellent Idlewild. His vocal is still right in the middle, but the swirling arrangements are his most expansive songs to date, it's a rich listen.

+ Indie LP is eco mix vinyl.

The Return of... is FULL of good vibes; the one-man dub band of multi-instrumentalist Pachy García as Pachyman. A modern take on the weirder dub experimentalists, it's great fun.

A couple of late arrivals in the house and we're finally able to rave about! Firstly, Torres' fifth album Thirstier on Merge, an honest and intense set from the Brooklyn-based rock musician Mackenzie Scott. We have a limited Yellow and Red Yolk Vinyl pressing. After some faff, we finally have To Enjoy is the Only Thing in our hands, the beautiful debut LP from Maple Glider. Naarm/Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Tori Zietsch really has delivered one of the most emotional and swooning debuts of the year, we were so thrilled to press it as a Dinked Edition. (if you ordered one, expect that to be shipping out to you today!)

We'll drop you an email over the next few days about the week's compilations and reissues, including; McCoy Tyner, Joan Shelly, The Weather Station, DOOM's Born Like This and the absolutely fantastic Goitse A Thaisce LP that Tom Coll of Fontaines DC has compiled on his own Skinty Records.
