Flashes of newness to keep the stereo stoked.

Hello, Friends.

Anyhow is the debut solo album from multi-instrumentalist and member of BADBADNOTGOOD, Leland Whitty. Written and arranged by Whitty himself, it features guest appearances from BBNG's Chester Hansen and Alexander Sowinski, as well as Julian Anderson Bowes, Matthew Tavares and Whitty's brother Lowell who patters across the drum kit with great invention. Cinematic vibes, with swooping strings and layered horns. Full of invigorating cosmic energy, our Record of the Week.

Victoria Bergsman returns as Taken By Trees after a four year break with a lush, five-song collection of Colin Blunstone covers, taking material from The Zombies frontman’s first two solo albums. Another Year. Wintery folk vibes and sweet melancholy.

The new release schedule has gone a little wild as we get closer to the end of the year, lots arriving, lots due. If you do ever miss out on a release, there is a back in stock notification on every title on the website.

GoGo Penguin debut on the Berlin-based XXIM Records with the five-track Between Two Waves EP. The first recordings with new drummer Jon Scott, a really light energy. It was released digitally back in the Summer but is finally available on either Black or Clear colour vinyl.

Mammal Hands brothers Nick and Jordan Smart release their second record as Sunda Arc on the excellent Gondwana Records label. Night Lands is electronic-inspired music but created with organic timbres. Really great drive.

+ Pressed on double Clear colour vinyl.

Lykke Li - EYEYE

Aidan Moffat of Arab Strap delivers some exquisite library-inspired music as Nyx Nott with Themes From… A loving traipse through genres, a bit like flicking through the TV channels. Coherent whilst being a mixed bag of directions; peak Twin Peaks energy meets Mike Oldfield.

Green Grows Devotion (Selected Works) is a collection of works spanning more than a decade from Duncan Lloyd, co-founder and guitarist of Maxïmo Park. From studio takes to lo-fi demos, he’s a really great songwriter.

After quite a few stops and starts, we finally have Lykke Li’s EYEYE LP in the shop. It’s a fairly stripped-back record, all built around her voice that is both euphoric and emotionally strained. A really good set.

As ever, we’ll be telling you all about the week’s best new reissues shortly, but for those eager to shop, it really is a fantastic week. We have a Queens Of The Stone Age double-header (including loads of sick bonus stickers and stuff), Warp’s seminal Artificial Intelligence, Five Years of Brutalism from IDLES (which is pressed on a very handsome Red vinyl), all-time amazing Donald Byrd live and the extraordinary Les Rallizes Denudes. It’s quite the set!
