The Lucid Dream - Actualisation

Record of the Week is Actualisation, a very big return from Carlisle quartet The Lucid Dream.

It all started from a place of adversity following a robbery (in early 2017 the band's van was ransacked and they lost damn near all of their equipment) but like phoenixes, they rose from the flames with our favourite record in their catalogue to date. They have always created a stark and tense wall of sound, but part of their realignment has introduced synths and it's really widened the pallet. The context is Acid House via Chicago House, and they used those sounds to find a new drive to what they do. It's exciting to here that band sounding new and so invigorated.

Oh... mastered by Dean Honer... the guy don't stop.
