Culled from a single decaying cassette tape labeled “July 1978,” these recordings are a window into the secret musical life of the Dude. Even after becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Bridges spent all his free time jamming and recording with a trusted circle of musicians composed of childhood friends, artists, and assorted L.A. oddballs. Imagine The Band playing at CBGB with The Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Or Arthur Russell and the Talking Heads collaborating on a suite of mutant disco. Though Bridges and his friends were brought up around the movie industry, they decided to create their own private musical universe, where they could be as weird as they wanted.

Record Store Day FAQs

When is this released?

Jeff Bridges - Slow Magic, 1977-1978 is released as part of Record Store Day 2025.

It will be available physically in the shop from 9am on Saturday 12th April 2025. Any remaining stock will then be made available at 8pm on Monday 14th April 2025.

Can I pre order a copy?

Drift, like all participating shops, are bound by the RSD code of conduct. We are unable to pre sell or reserve any RSD titles.

So, how do I get one?

Drift will be open at 9am on Saturday 12th April and you need to come and see us in person. There will be a queue and we try and make it as much fun as possible.

Any remaining stock will be made available at 8pm on Monday 14th April and you will be able to purchase copies via this page. Traffic is always high, it is very much first to complete checkout.
